Twice the Love
Few things can make a momma's heart explode like the excitement and joy that a firstborn shows over her second-born. The first few moments after bringing home your second child are often filled with awe as you watch your two miracles interact and bond. I had the honor of photographing this sweet family in this state of abundant joy as they welcomed little Kai into their family.
There are lots of moments that I loved in this session, but it's hard to beat the adorable interactions between siblings; especially these two. There is a lot of love and curiosity in little Maya. She has the makings of a wonderful and fun older sibling. Photographing this sibling interaction was simply magical. From her giggles to the way she looked at him with wonder, there's a spark in her soul that's impossible to miss. I aimed to preserve her spark and these fleeting moments for mom and dad. Time has a way of taking our most cherished memories from us unless we freeze them in time, so freeze them I did.
These are but a few of my favorite photos of this adorable family. It has been such a pleasure to celebrate and document their growth over the past 8 years. Few professions allow you to become so ingrained in the story of two people who were once strangers to you. It would be seemingly impossible for me not to feel connected to their stories, their highs, and their lows. Families like these, give me a purpose I never would have imagined or dreamed for myself. I'm truly grateful for that.
